Dr. Jennifer Rullan, daughter of Dr. Peter Rullan, is a Board Certified Dermatologist and fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (FAAD). She is fully bilingual in Spanish. Known for her comprehensive examinations as well as artistic eye, Dr. Rullan is committed to providing her patients with the best options to restore, maintain, and rejuvenate their appearance. She was born in Anaheim, California and raised in San Diego where she attended Bonita Vista High School. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychobiology from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and her Medical Degree from the Ponce School of Medicine. She completed her internship in Internal Medicine at the San Juan Veterans Hospital in Puerto Rico and her residency in dermatology at the University of Puerto Rico Department of Dermatology (only US dermatology program that is fully bilingual & accredited by the ACGME). She began working in private practice in 2013 with her father and is also a Dermatology Consultant for Scripps Mercy Chula Vista Hospital.

Dr. Jennifer Rullan is a lifelong learner and believes in educating the next generation. She has been the medical faculty in over 11 live chemical peel workshops with her father, Dr. Peter Rullan for the International Peeling Society (IPS) and for UCSD and Navy Dermatology Residents. She speaks and teaches on advanced chemical peel techniques at national and international conferences such as the American Academy of Dermatology annual meetings and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgeons annual meetings, in addition to internationally for the International Peel Society and the Puerto Rico Dermatologic Society. She was the inaugural Academic Chair for the International Peel Society USA division from 2019-2022. She has served as co-Chair for ASDS product development and Chair for the ASDS product development in 2022-2023.

Dr. Jennifer Rullan is a recipient of numerous honors and awards. In 2022, Dr. Jennifer Rullan and Dr. Peter Rullan were awarded Best Small Business Award by the 40th Senatorial District for the Dermatology Institute in Chula Vista. In 2019 she was selected to participate in the American Society of Dermatologic Surgeons leadership training called The Future Leaders Network where she created a national training project on chemical peels for dermatologist who specialize in Mohs & cosmetic surgery. She graduated medical school with both academic and clinical honors. She was one of the select few in her class elected in 2008 to be a member of  Alpha Omega Alpha, a national honor society for medical students, residents, scientists and physicians, which recognizes professionalism, academic excellence, service, and leadership. She is a lifetime member of the society and fully embraces its mission to improve care for all patients, reflected in its motto, “Be Worthy to Serve the Suffering.”

Dr. Rullan strongly believes in giving back to the community and has dedicated a good portion of her free time in doing so. She was an organic chemistry tutor at the Academic Advancement Program at UCLA and a pharmacology tutor at the Ponce School of Medicine. She also served as a site coordinator for the COPE program at a battered women’s home. Dr. Rullan is a founding sister for the delta chapter of Phi Lambda Rho Inc., one of the largest Hispanic sororities at UCLA, with principles based upon academic excellence, community service, and the promotion of Latina culture. While in medical school, she founded and directed the REMEDY Program, a program that recovered unused medical equipment for the developing world, specifically Haiti and Dominican Republic. She volunteered at Camp Discovery, a summer camp sponsored by the American Academy of Dermatology, helping children with disabling skin diseases such as Epidermolysis Bullosa. She has been on several medical mission trips locally, to Peru, and to Brazil. She has both organized and participated in several skin cancer screenings, volunteered in clinics to serve the homeless, and served as a mentor to multiple students. Now, working full time and as a mother, she serves her local community with her involvement in marriage coaching and with the Coronado Junior Women’s Club Charity Organization.

Dr. Rullan has authored three book chapters. She authored the chapter on chemical peels in
Baumann’s Cosmetic Dermatology, Third Edition published in 2022 by McGraw Hill. She also authored two chapters on pulmonary and rheumatic diseases in the Lippincott’s book Atlas of Dermatology in Internal Medicine. Her other research has been published in The Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, Cutis, The American Journal of Cosmetic Surgery, and The Caribbean Journal of Dermatology. She also contributed to the research article “Two Day Phenol Chemabrasion for Acne Scars and Deep Wrinkles”. The article was named “Most Scholarly Article of 2004” by the Trustees of the 2005 American Board of Cosmetic Surgery.

Dr. Jennifer Rullan outside interests include walking with her family, reading, amateur gardening, going out to eat with close friends, and dancing salsa with her husband.
