OVERVIEW

Neuromodulators are wrinkle-relaxing injections of botulinum toxin – commercially known as Botox Cosmetic, Dysport or Xeomin – that are used to treat wrinkles, frown lines and crow’s feet (the lines around the eyes).

A very small amount of the neuromodulator is injected directly into the underlying specific muscle, causing it to relax and gradually smooth out the appearance of the overlying skin. The effects typically last about three months. They take about 2 weeks to begin to work after it is injected into the skin. It is used to improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines temporarily, but it can also be used to soften coarse expressions. If you begin at a younger age, it can help prevent wrinkles or lines in a natural way over time.

Dermatology Institute is located in greater San Diego area, specifically Chula Vista. Our physicians are considered the top experts in their field, and in fact we are one of the few practices where our MDs actually perform all Botox injections themselves, rather than having a nurse practitioner or medical assistant perform them. Botox® Cosmetic is a very common and well-studied wrinkle treatment that has been proven to correct moderate to severe frown lines in problem areas of the face. As experts of the skin, we know where and how to inject in order to have natural results that enhance your face and do not change your face.

BOTOX TREATMENT AREAS

  • Forehead creases
  • Crow’s feet
  • Neck bands
  • Bunny lines
  • Chin dimples
  • Gummy smile
  • Eyebrow lift
  • TMJ
  • Masseter muscle

These areas eventually begin to wrinkle from years of smiling, frowning, squinting and excessive muscle movement. By providing patients in San Diego and Chula Vista with neuromodulators, we are able to relax the underlying muscles and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. When you begin to relax the muscles, you can actually prevent wrinkles from developing if you start earlier than later.
